Grawa Waterfall

At 85 meters wide, Grawa Waterfall is the broadest waterfall of the Eastern Alps and an outstanding natural spectacle in Inner Stubai Valley. The powerful, frothing rapids of Sulzau Creek drop 180 meters in a series of pretty cascades. There’s something surreally magical about a torrent of water plunging off a cliff and into a crystal pool. Particularly in early summer, when much of the winter’s snow melts, and after heavy rainfalls this natural spectacle is something to behold. The water level is at its lowest in late autumn. There’s a spectacular viewing platform on foot of the cascading waterfall where you can relax on a wooden deckchair and feel the misty water spraying on your face: On a hot summer day, the mist that drifts from the exhilarating gush of water over the cliffs is a sublime natural air conditioner—and highly beneficial for the respiratory tract. Grawa Waterfall is the most famous and spectacular of the waterfalls along the amazing WhiteWaterWalk. Trailhead of its first segment is the quarry in Ranalt. The 3.5-kilometer long route follows the Ruetz River and ends at the spectacular viewing platform at the base of Grawa Waterfall. This scenic stretch was designed with a moderate grade and is easily accessible by all ages, wheelchair users and baby strollers.
